Inactivity magnifies age-related changes, but action maintains and increases your abilities. ~ Jane Brody, MD and Author

Plain and simple: we need to get moving.

In 1994, Surgeon General Everett Koop issued a national call to get moving. Why? Because the risks of remaining sedentary are too high and the benefits of getting more active are too great!

Physical activity helps us to be our best: healthier, happier and more productive. Movement keeps our blood circulating, our muscles tuned and our brains firing. When we move, we feel better, think better, look better, and function better.

What's good for employees, is also good for companies. Studies show that companies that are "in motion" have decreased healthcare and workers compensation costs, reduced absenteeism, increased productivity, increased morale, increased employee retention, and ultimately, have achieved a healthier bottom line.

Take Johnson & Johnson, for example. As a result of their wellness programs that have gotten their employees moving more, they have been able to save $8.5 million dollars per year — about $225 savings per employee in healthcare costs.

Studies consistently indicate that wellness pays:
-For every dollar spent on getting employees healthier, companies are getting back $1.49 to $4.91 in saved health care costs.
-Savings from reduced absenteeism is even higher: nearly $16 return rate for every dollar spent.
